Feast of Splendour

March 20

This is the first day of the first month in the Bahá’í year, called Bahá (meaning ‘splendour’ or ‘glory’).  Each year has nineteen months of nineteen days each, with the Intercalary Days falling at the end of February.  On the first day of every Bahá’í month, Bahá’ís in each locality gather for the Nineteen Day Feast.  The Feast of Bahá falls at the start of the Bahá’í year, and Bahá’ís usually celebrate the New Year at this time too.

In addition, the Feast of Bahá marks the end of the nineteen-day period of fasting for Bahá’ís.
