Birth of the Báb

18 October

The Báb was the forerunner of Bahá’u’lláh, prophet founder of the Bahá’í Faith.  He was born in Shiraz on this day in 1819.

This year, 2019, marks the 200th anniversary of the Báb’s birth.  Watch out for celebrations organised by Bahá’í communities all over the world to mark this special occasion.

Bahá’ís often organise celebrations in their local communities to mark this and the following special day. They are sometimes referred to as the ‘twin Holy Days’.

Ideas for ways to explore the life of the Báb with KS2 and KS3 can be found on our Bicentenary page.
