Bahá’ís around the world are observing the annual Fast, which takes place in the last month of the Bahá’í calendar, the month of ‘Alá (which means 'Loftiness').

Believers fast from sunrise to sunset for the 19 days of the month of ‘Alá, which closes at Naw-Rúz, a Bahá’í Holy Day and the first day of the new Bahá’í year, set by the spring equinox which falls this year on 21 March.

The Bahá’í Fast is a time of prayer, meditation, and spiritual rejuvenation. Every hour of this sacred period of the Fast, wrote Bahá’u’lláh, is blessed, sanctified, and endowed with a special virtue.

New resources on the Bahá’í Fast are available on the KS3 page here. They are only for 11-14yrs at this time, though the slides as published could be readily adapted. Versions intended for other Key Stages to follow!
